Pediatric Dental Emergencies

If your child has a dental emergency, please do not hesitate to call us immediately. If it is outside of normal office hours, we're always available to registered patients via the emergency number left on our answering machine. Call 610-566-0291 as soon as possible.

Broken, Chipped or Fractured Tooth

If your child has broken their tooth, have them rinse with warm water to make sure any tooth bits are cleaned from their mouth. Place a cold compress on the tooth. Please try to save the broken part of the tooth if possible. Give us a call right away.

Knocked-Out Tooth

If your child has knocked out a tooth that was not previously mobile, try to touch only the crown part of the tooth (the part previously visible when smiling). Rinse the tooth with water, NO soap! If you can place the tooth back in the socket, do so and hold it in place with a clean towel. If you cannot get the tooth back in the socket, place it in milk. Please call the Media dental office of Dr. Hillyard and Dr. Monroe immediately. If you act quickly, it may be possible to re-implant and save a permanent adult tooth.

Toothache

If your child complains of tooth pain, inspect the area to make sure nothing is caught in-between the teeth.  If the pain continues, apply a cold compress to the area. Do not apply heat or aspirin. You may administer oral Children's Advil or Ibuprofen for the pain. Contact us right away at 610-566-0291.
